GAP and its area
The discovery of the surrounding area of the beautiful capital of the Southern Alps varies with the seasons.
1 km from the town centre, the Domain Park of Charance and its peak (1852 m) is the headquarters of a botanical conservatory and the Ecrins Park. This exceptional natural area welcomes walkers, sports enthusiasts and families.
Just 10 minutes away is the magnificent Golf Bayard (18 holes). In winter this turns into a place of wonderful Nordic ski trails. The slopes of the Ancelle, St Léger les Mélèzes and Laye ski resorts offer fun for all the family.
Lake Serre-Ponçon, with its chapel built on an island in the middle of the waters, is a very pleasant site for swimming, boat rentals, water skiing and a visit to the Romanesque Abbey of Boscodon, a few minutes away.
Adventurers should note that, during much of the year, the Gap-Tallard Airport offers the opportunity of trying out skydiving, gliding or, a little more sedately, taking a balloon flight. However, you can also enjoy the thrills of flight without taking to the skies when you try ON'AIR, the wind tunnel that makes you fly.
Cyclists and bikers can visit the legendary high passes of the Tour de France, such as Izoard, Galibier, etc.
